Construction began in 1934 through a WPA (Works Progress Administration) project, with the course opening in July 1936. The original green fees were just 35 cents, making quality golf accessible to the community from day one.

Designed by Joseph A. Roseman and opened in 1936, “Pets” as it is often affectionately called by avid golfers, offers tremendous value and fun! The course represents an excellent example of Depression-era public golf course development, created to provide recreational opportunities during challenging economic times.
